| Here's a list of resturants
we know on St. John.
The Stars relate the quality of the food(on a scale of 1 to 3).
Asolare
Expensive but best view, food, and ambiance for a
special evening. Reserve early if you prefer terrace seating.
Reserve 340-776-5336
The Balcony
Nice outdoor dining with view but no bargain. Reserve
340774-8470
The Banana Deck
Inexpensive, casual, and pleasant. Reserve 340-693-5055
The Beach Bar
Great hamburgers—especially on Sunday evenings
when there’s also great Jazz!
Beach Cafe and Bar
Nothing to recommend it but the beach at the Westin
(which isn’t much of a recommendation) if you happen to
be there at lunchtime.
Beach Terrace
A lovely dining space just off the beach at Caneel
Bay. The Sunday Brunch is a great value. Reserve (?) 340-776-6111
Café Roma
Not bad if you want Italian food and air conditioning
Chateau Bordeaux
Almost worth the drive up the mountain for the great
views—and the experience. The food’s okay. Reserve
340-776-6611
The Fish Trap
We’ve heard good things, but we haven’t
had that experience ourselves at this popular restaurant
Front Yard
Low down hamburgers in a parking lot—but lots
of fun (music sometimes)
Inn at Tamarind Court
A pleasant evening at pleasant prices (music sometimes)
La Tapa
Fine food and, often, great music
The Lime Inn
Good food at reasonable prices at this well-deserved
Island favorite. Reserve 340-776-6425
Margarita Phil’s
Be sure to have a Margarita, and the food is great
at reasonable prices. Call first to sit outdoors. Reserve 340-693-8400
Miss Lucy’s Restaurant & Bar
Once you’ve made the trek, you must appreciate
the West Indian fare and Island ambiance on Miss Lucy’s
beach. Live Jazz at Sunday brunch
Morgan’s Mango
A great standby. Good food at fair prices. We prefer
to sit on the terrace rail.
Paradiso
If you are looking for Continental fare in a stylish
air conditioned restaurant
The Pavilion Restaurant
Worth the drive—especially for environmentalists.
The view from the pavilion is extraordinary. The buffet food
service is for Maho Bay campers and others. Very inexpensive
Shipwreck Landing
Pleasant food and ambiance if you’re in Coral
Bay. Reserve 340-693-5640
Skinny Legs
An Island institution for those who like the beer
and chips ambiance. Try the portabella mushroom sandwich
Stone Terrace
Reserve early to assure terrace seating. Expensive,
but worth it. Reserve 340-693-9370
Zozo’s
Too expensive but a pleasant ambiance for a dress
up evening.
